What we recognise and how we judge
Every entry is judged against eight standards. No box-ticking. We look for brands that demonstrate real strength across identity, strategy, innovation, impact, connection, execution, business results, and where relevant, purpose. Our panel evaluates with rigour and independence. Winning means you have been measured against a high bar and met it.
These standards exist so that excellence is defined clearly and applied consistently. They reflect what leading organisations, agencies, and jurors agree matters most when a brand is judged. We publish them in full so you know exactly what we are looking for.
Brand Identity
Clear, distinctive, and memorable expression. Recognition and trust built through consistency and clarity.
Strategic Clarity
Purpose and positioning that are evident in every touchpoint. The brand knows what it stands for and why it exists.

Our benchmarks
- Entries are evaluated in multiple rounds. Shortlisted work is reviewed in depth before any award is conferred.
- Judging is conducted by an independent panel. No quotas. No commercial influence. Decisions are made on merit only.
- Criteria are published. We do not use hidden weightings or undisclosed standards. You know what we are looking for.
- Results are assessed with context. We look for linkage between brand initiatives and outcomes, and for comparison to past performance and category.
- Only work that meets the benchmark is shortlisted. Finalists and winners represent a small percentage of entries. The bar is high.
The Best Brands Awards does not favour size over substance. Emerging brands and established names are assessed on the same criteria. What matters is excellence.
